Exotic metals such as Inconel, Haynes, and Hastelloy are extremely difficult to machine as they are manufactured specifically for improved strength, wear resistance, high-temp stability or corrosion resistance. Miller CNC has the equipment and technical expertise required to form high-quality, complex components from even the most resilient exotic alloys.
We utilize our 5-axis Milling equipment to create components with difficult geometries at high repeatability.

Exotic metals, or “boutique” metals, are usually developed for a specific purpose, whether it is due to their high strength, high-wear resistance, high-temp stability or extreme corrosion-resistance. These metals generally have a carbon steel machinability of 20%. Due to these factors, exotic metals are generally difficult to machine. Often produced in small quantities, exotic alloys are also generally more expensive than commonly used alloys. Exotic metals include various nickel, cobalt, and chromium alloys, among others with more widely-used alloys, including Inconel, Haynes, Hastelloy, Waspaloy, Invar, Kovar, and Monel.
Over the course of many years, Miller CNC has gained significant experience working with many exotic alloys and difficult-to-machine metals. We have developed reliable and efficient machining methods, including 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining. We offer the precision and accuracy needed for many mission-critical components that can’t be matched by our competitors.
With the capability to move all 5-axis’ simultaneously, 5-axis milling is well-suited for complex parts that could not be made with any other milling machine. 5-axis milling creates advanced, high-performance, mission-critical machined components that leave no room for error. The inherent functionality of 5-axis CNC milling centers means reduced set-up times, providing enhanced efficiency. Our 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis centers allow us to CNC machine components up to 40 inches in length.
With our 5-axis CAM software with machine simulation, all features will be machined without physical handling of the part in one set up. This allows for more accuracy than any other milling machine can provide, and ensures that your component is prototyped and manufactured under our ISO9001:2015 engineering processes.
As an AS9100D-certified manufacturer, Miller CNC has been trusted with government and defense contracts for more than a decade. While our focus and specialization has been primarily Aerospace and Military and Defense, Oil and Gas,
Automotive and Cryogenics, we are capable of creating performance-built components for many industry applications. Our skilled machinists are always looking for new opportunities to create application-specific components for any industry.
We have experience creating components with tight tolerances and critical finishes for multiple applications. Examples of our exotic alloy machined parts include:
